Panelfest was a success by all
accounts. We managed to get 11 panel trucks and a very cool sedan
delivery together for this first event. The panels came mostly
from Ontario, however we had a surprise visit from Baxter all
the way from Prince Edward Island and Big Bob came in all the
way from New Jersey. It was a great time having all the panels
together and even better to have all the different characters
who own them together. It was a different venue for most of the
owners as the event was part of Vanfest 10 one of the larger
all weekend truck shows in Canada. There were a few challenges
associated with this that will be adressed in the eventuality
that there is a second event in 2006.
There were awards for all but one panel owner (that one is on
it's way).
Best of Show: Larry and Pam's 1953 Ford "Floored
Best Chevy/GMC: Baxter's 1956 GMC
Best Ford: Cluckie's 1955 Ford
Best Other: Tom's 1946 Willy's
Best Under Construction: Ron and Eunice's 1939 Ford
People's Choice: Tom's 1941 Ford
Best 4x4 Big Bob's 1960 Ford
Best Late GMC Roger's 1960 GMC
Best Sedan Delivery David's 1951 Chevy sedan delivery
Best family cruiser Rick's 1956 Ford (to be presented at Arthur)
Special award for Peter for his help judging and bringing his
restored 1952 Chevy for display
Baxter also received a very special award for long distance,
a set of Magnaflow exhausts donated by Ron.
There were also door prizes for
the panel owners that were donated by Ron, Michigan Rick and
Baxter.
Each owner also receivd a custom dash plaque/shadow box.
Once the show wrapped up we went on a cruise into the town of
St Thomas for their big cruise night associated with the car
show the following day. It sure was neat being in a convoy of
5 panels for this 10 mile trek into town. We parked on main street
St Thomas with the rods and other trucks for about an hour and
then headed back to our event for the main award presentation.
The photos below are but a fraction of all that were taken by
the many photographers on hand. Over time the others will be
used for features on the individual trucks and we will likely
have others to include in this collection. Big thanks to Superbeast,
Geoff, Howard, Teabag and Peter for the use of their pictures.
I shot a few myself too for good measure, |
